Choose the best materials for your budget

We have the same providers of wood for many years. We have stablished a trusting relationship with them. They provided the best kind of wood for our projects. They deliver on time and with the highest quality standards.

Why do we use wood in wine cellars?

Traditional wine cellars are build using wood. One of the reasons of choosing wood is because the aesthetics. Wood has a cozy warm feeling for your wine cellar. Wood looks elegant and it is a classic for building a solid wine cellar. We have different choices for wood: Mahogany, black walnut, and white oak.

Mahogany
Our favorite choice! It is a straight grained, reddish-brown timber, indigenous to United States. There are three different sources of Mahogany: Honduran, West Indian and Swietenia Humilis.

Besides Mahogany’s beautiful presentation. Mahogany is durable, the color is amazing and resists the cold temperatures that your wine cellar needs to have.

The name Mahogany was associated with the islands of West Indies who were under British Control.

Mahogany is synonymous of luxury since English furniture makers Chippendale, Hepplewhite, and Sheraton from the late 1700s. There are many pieces in perfect condition in our time. You can appreciate how durable this wood is. Mahogany provides a tight grain that readily accepts any finish.

Black Walnut

The United States Black Walnut (Juglans nigra) is a unique species of hardwood. It is characterized by having a rich brown lustrous heartwood with a grain pattern that categorizes itself in between graining woods like oak and uniform textured woods such maple and poplar. One of its assets is a natural resistance to decay and insects.

The best places to find walnut are in Ohio and Iowa. These estates have rich, deep, moist soils.

Black Walnut is a good wood for shaping and the best of any commercial hardwood species for turning. It is a light weight wood but strong. It holds its shape thru time.

White Oak

White Oak’s scientific name is Quercus Alba. It is commonly grown in Easter United States. This wood is characterized by to a light to medium brown cast. The sapwood is not always sharply demarcated from the heartwood. It has prominent ray fleck patterns. White Oaks’ grain is straight with a coarse uneven texture. White Oak has a distinctive odor. Most of clients find that smell appealing.

White Oak is a strong, beautiful, rot resistant, easy to work and economical wood. It is widely used in cabinet and furniture making.
